Homemade Wood Floor Cleaner
Let’s begin with one of my personal favorites, the DIY wood floor cleaner recipe. If you own wood floors, you likely know that they are pretty low-maintenance as it is. More often than not, a light mopping using plain old warm water will do the trick.
But of course, this isn’t always the case. Every once in a while, it calls for some extra attention and a little bit of elbow grease. For our first secret, I’m going to give away an easy and effective DIY wood floor cleaner recipe for clean, streak-free floors.

Wood Floor Cleaner Recipe
Let’s start with a basic DIY hardwood floor cleaner recipe that has lasting effects. If you’ve ever wondered how to clean hardwood floors with vinegar, I’m about to crack the lid wide open.
Begin with white vinegar and warm water. What you want to do is fill your mop bucket with one gallon of water. Then, simply add a half cup of vinegar.
I know, you’re probably thinking “Is it safe to use vinegar to clean hardwood floors? Are you sure about this?” Trust me, it will be fine. DIY cleaners are tried-and-true method that has been around ever since the first person got burned on expensive name brand cleaners.
Now, this part is very important. Make sure that you are using a dry, clean mop. Stick it in the water and vinegar solution and get it fully immersed. Wring it out to where it is only slightly damp.
You are now ready to mop for a shiny, attractive floor. “But wait”, you say. “I can’t use water on my type of wood floor! How do you clean and shine hardwood floors naturally without using water?”
You’re in luck. If your wood floors aren’t designed for water, I have another natural floor cleaner just for you. In an empty spray bottle, combine equal parts white vinegar and vegetable oil.

This combination tends to separate over time, so be sure to mix it well before each application. You’re going to want to use a dust mop with this wood cleaner.
Simply spray your newly-made solution over your wood flooring and mop over it using the dry mop. Then, just use a dry mop head or towel to wipe up the leftover residue.
Try buffing in a circular motion to bring out the wood floor’s natural shine (think ‘wax-on, wax-off’). That’s it! Using this homemade hardwood floor cleaner will prevent the risk of water damage and leave your floors squeaky clean.
I have continually used both of these cleaning solutions several times over the years and am always impressed by their effectiveness. I can’t imagine going back to expensive, harmful chemicals after trying these cleaners.
It’s such a cost-effective way to save money. You’ll be amazed at how much you truly save over time.
Homemade Laminate Floor Cleaner
For all of you laminate floor owners out there, I have just the ticket for your dirty floor blues. This homemade laminate floor cleaner is as effective in its cleaning abilities as it is to make.
I know how aggravating it can be to keep laminate clean. This simple solution makes short work of grungy floors and leaves them looking like new.

DIY Homemade Laminate Floor Cleaner Recipe
If you’ve been trying to get your laminate floors to shine, it’s time you put this recipe to the test. As with the last entry, you’re going to need an empty spray bottle to start.
Add 3 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Now just add a single squirt of dish soap. Doesn’t really matter what kind. Make sure it’s gently shaken, not stirred. Actually, the reason for this is that spray bottles aren’t really designed for easy stirring.
Just be sure not to over-shake it or it will become difficult to spray, as it bubbles up with too much shaking.
Now you have a homemade DIY laminate floor cleaner that even James Bond would be proud of. The best part is that this concoction won’t leave streaks. Your laminate will have a glow to it like never before!

Vinyl is pretty stout stuff, but there’s no need to risk using potentially harmful chemicals on it. Plus, many of those costly cleaners have an odor that can be hard to get rid of.
I know, vinegar isn’t exactly roses to noses. But the great thing about this recipe is that it includes an easy fix for those who are sensitive to vinegar.
Start with a gallon of warm water in your mop bucket. Now add a half cup of distilled white vinegar. Finally, add some drops of lemon juice or your favorite scented oil.

It provides exceptional cleaning while getting rid of germs. This is effective tile cleaning at its finest.

Natural Tile Flooring Cleaner Recipe
First things first. In order for you to get the best results, it is important that you thoroughly sweep your floor before using this natural tile floor cleaner.
The reasons for this are two-fold. One, there is the potentiality of your tile getting scratched by dragging loose debris across the floor during the mopping process. And two, you could inadvertently smear dust and dirt with the mop, making your floor look worse.
After you have made doubly sure that your tile is clear of any loose objects and debris, it’s time to get to mixing. In your mop bucket, you want to first add two gallons of hot water.
Now add ¼ cup of baking soda, along with ¼ cup of white vinegar. Lastly, simply add a tablespoon of your favorite dish soap, and voilà! You now have the ultimate – and totally affordable – homemade tile cleaner.
This formula is to tile what toothpaste is to teeth. It cleans and disinfects all in one go. If you want to give your tile a fresh scrubbing, this is the way to do it.
DIY Disinfecting Floor Cleaner
If you thought the DIY tile cleaner was effective, wait until you try out this handy bathroom solution. I’ll be completely honest, I loathe cleaning bathrooms. Whether it’s the toilet, shower, sink, or floors, there’s just something about it that I have a hard time resigning myself to.
Fortunately, there is an effective DIY tile floor cleaner for bathrooms that work wonders. This one takes a little more know-how and patience to achieve, but the wait is well worth it.
Before we get started, you’re going to need washing soda for this recipe. It’s important to stress that washing soda and baking soda are two totally different things.
If you’re unsure as to what washing soda is or where to get it, check out this handy how-to so that you can make it right from your home.

Disinfecting Bathroom Floor Cleaner Recipe
Now that you know how to clean kitchen floor tile, it’s time to learn how to conquer the bathroom. You’re going to start by adding two gallons of hot water in a bucket. Add ¼ cup of white vinegar, one tablespoon of dish soap, and ¼ cup of washing soda.
You’re now ready to start mopping. Like the previous homemade floor cleaners, this is an excellent DIY remedy to disinfect and leave your bathroom floor spotless and glossy.
But what about that nasty toilet bowl that no one likes to clean? As you’re probably well aware, it takes a pretty powerful cleaning formula to get your toilet looking fresh.
If those name-brand products just aren’t cutting it, you may need a stronger disinfectant for your toilet bowl to ensure that it’s completely free of germs and filth. It goes without saying that you should always wear hand protection when dealing with microbes and bacteria.
With these cleaners combined, you’re sure to have a bathroom that you’ll be proud to show off.
